The Fear of Failure

Failure

Failure is something most fear
Something we all wish would disappear

Failure is something we all try to avoid
Something we all wish could be destroyed

Failure can only hold you back
Use your knowledge and attack

To all the people who told you no
Once it’s done let it show

To all the people who doubted you
Tell them thank you

When one door of happiness closes, another opens, but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one that has been opened for us.

You Are Appreciated

Yesterday 5/3/2010 I surprised my mom with chocolate covered strawberries to let her know that I appreciate her. I also let her know that it wasn't Mother's Day it was Mother's Week. So for day 2 I wrote her a poem.
5/4/2010
This is the gift for today
A poem to express my appreciation in every way

I want to thank you for helping me,
Guiding me and loving me

I want to thank you for putting your life on hold,
Giving me your jacket when I was cold

I want to thank you for being there for me when I pushed you away,
Never giving up and loving me in every way

I want to thank you for putting me first,
Smiling and laughing when you felt your worst

I want to thank you for listening to me complain,
Watching me scream and yell and knowing I’m not insane

I want to thank you for being strong,
Teaching me right from wrong

I want to thank you for being you
For being there and helping me through.

I love you!

The Next Move

You may know their name or in this case you don’t
And to be honest you probably won’t

It’s not about my name
It’s about who I am and how I play this game

This game called life
Where we go through happiness and strife

It’s about living to learn
And waiting your turn

It’s knowing who you are
And covering up your scar

It’s letting the ones you love, in
It’s letting the ones you meet know where you’ve been

It’s about contemplating the next move
Knowing that there is always something to improve

It’s about knowing how to loose
And not making an excuse

It’s about knowing how to smile
And realizing that all the pain is worthwhile

First Impressions

Who are you to judge me because of my pale skin or my broad shoulders? You aren’t anyone that should judge me but you most likely do as I most likely judge you. I mean honestly, what would I do as I walk down the street in Georgetown, DC if I couldn’t judge? What would I think about if I couldn’t comment on the tremendously short skirt that girl was wearing or the ultra tight pants that man had on? Maybe more important things like when I could possibly find time to get my oil changed or my car inspected? Maybe I shouldn’t call it judging. That sounds awfully rude and hurtful. So, let’s call it..improvising! I know more than anyone that there is a lot more to the person than the way the look or the way they style their hair. Although, it is true that everyone passes judgment about you before they hear your story.

So begin judging people.

I am a young woman. I work full time and go to school full time. I work very hard and I am very proud of everything I have. I love my family with all my heart and would be lost without them. I have as many doubts about myself as the next one. I believe in telling yourself you are beautiful and strong & you will be.

You are beautiful and you are strong.

I strongly dislike that people are so worried about what others think of them. It truly frustrates me how a decision can be made on imputing what others might think instead of what you think. I hope that with time and experience people will stop thinking about what someone else thinks.
So my question for today is; why do we care so much about what other people think? && I leave you with this quote: First impressions can be lifelong lessons
